New Year’s Resolutions

As the year 2010 is going to end and another year of 2011 is opening its curtain of surprises and miracles, let us all close old book and open up a new, improved chapter of our life. It has been a normal thing for people to make new resolutions for themselves as a new year is coming. Maybe, it may sound cliché for certain people when it comes to making new resolutions every time a new year comes, but I personally do not think so.

To me, making new resolutions is not merely for us to set a new target or aim for ourselves, but it also serves as a motivator, catalyst and most importantly, as an impetus for us to trigger our own self- improvement from time to time in order to achieve all targets that we have set before. I always believe that in order for us to improve ourselves, we need to set our targets first. By having these aims, we will be able to see clearly what are the things ahead that we want to achieve throughout the year and as the result, we will endeavour and persevere, also be more disciplined no matter what the obstacles are to really achieve our missions for that particular year. In a long run, we need to keep reminding ourselves of our targets and also keep renewing our missions once our previous missions are already achieved as to further improve the status quo of our life.
There is one important tip that I learnt from a famous motivation consultant, Irfan Khairi in achieving our missions and resolutions. We need to WRITE DOWN all our MISSIONS, RESOLUTIONS, AIMS AND TARGETS. This is because writing down all your missions is like making an agreement with yourself that you will achieve all those that you have set. Those missions will always be engraved in your mind, therefore, you will always be reminded and self- informed about the resolutions that you want to achieve in the future. Unwritten MISSIONS, RESOLUTIONS, AIMS AND TARGETS are just baseless dreams that you cannot see and hold on. So, just by writing them down somewhere, you make all your MISSIONS, RESOLUTIONS, AIMS AND TARGETS something that are tangible in which you can see, touch and even portray them every day on the wall in your room. For example, if you aim to get 9 A’s for your upcoming exam, you can write your target on a piece of paper and put it up on the wall of your room. By doing so, you will always be motivated every time you take a look on your aim, so you can keep the paces going for you to achieve your target and not to be distracted by any other hiccups and disturbances out there.

As for me, I have several resolutions for the new year of 2010. Here are some of them:
1)      Lose some weight and slim down my body until I get a normal BMI and at the same time, maintain a good diet and get a healthy body (I give myself 6 months to achieve this target starting from January 2011).
2)      Improve my English language proficiency especially for in the aspect of English pronunciations and oratory skills.
3)      Be more disciplined in saving money every month and control my expenses only for things that are important.

I think that is all for now. Let us all make this year of 2010 a better year for us, a year that is full of excellences and successes. Be optimistic and do not give up in everything we do. Happy new yearJ.

Friendship Dilemma

From my observation, nowadays, Facebook is no longer just a social networking website that people visit leisurely. But, in fact, it can be considered as a ‘must- to- update’ and daily routine for almost everyone all around the world.  According to recent research, Facebook has become the world’s no. 1 social networking website with estimated 550,000,000 monthly visitors, on top of MySpace and twitter, which are respectively on no. 2 and no. 3 positions currently.

But, there is one issue that I would like to raise here regarding Facebook that I am facing currently, which is about Facebook friend requests.  I do personally think that the vital elements in friendship are sincerity and honesty. Well, it is true that we might not know everyone that add us in the Facebook, but I think that there is no wrong for us to befriend with someone that we do not know as long as our intention is good. But, I disdain those whom I feel are not sincere in befriending with someone else. In the case of Facebook, I received quite a number of friend requests from people that I do not personally know, but, so far I normally approved those who use their real name and real picture or my long lost friends that I really know. To me, those who do not use real name or picture are not sincere and serious in befriending with other people. Therefore, I did not approve their friend requests. At least, those who are using fake pictures or anonymous names could send personal message to me or to the person that they want to befriend with, telling who they are or any whatnots.
Some of my pending friend requests

Well, as the saying goes, honesty is the best policy. Hence, please be sincere and honest in friendship, does not matter whether it is in the real or virtual world. That is all from me now, thank you. Assalammualaikum.

My First Post

Hi everyone. This is my first post on this blog. Actually, this is not my first blog. I used to have another blog on Wordpress but due to some unavoidable technical problems, I could not log into my Wordpress account. Therefore, I decided to set up another blog and here it is. I will utilise this blog of mine to share my personal opinions and experience in life. I find that it is really inspiring to read others' thoughts as we will be able to widen our perspectives and views on certain issues. Hopefully, this blog will be able to benefit not only myself but others also.
